Forest Retreat

This project was a two-phased renovation of a 3-story, single-family residence in Ross, CA. The interior of the main level was fully remodeled to create an open-concept living room, dining room and kitchen. All interior walls at the main level were removed and the ceiling over the kitchen area was vaulted, requiring new long-span steel beams to support the existing floor and roof above as well as foundation upgrades to support the reconfigured loads. The third-level master suite was seismically retrofitted to accommodate a new window system providing views out to the rear yard. Several modifications were also completed in the cottage, including partial vaulting of the roof over the living room and conversion of the garage into living space with kitchen and lounge.
