22nd Street Retrofit

This project was a voluntary retrofit of a residential soft-story condition consisting of a new steel moment frame and footing. The moment frame was constructed behind one of the garage bays and new steel collector angles were installed under the joists to tie the adjacent garage bay to the moment frame. The moment frame utilizes bolted flange plate connections of the beam to the columns, thus eliminating the need for field welding and reducing construction cost.
