Butterfly Wall

Hom-Pisano provided structural analysis as well as member, connection and anchorage design of the support frame for Charles Sowers’ Butterfly Wall exhibit at SFO Terminal 2. The support frame is hidden above the ceiling and anchors to the underside of the existing metal deck and concrete slab. The structure was designed to withstand vertical forces due to the self-weight of the frame as well as lateral seismic forces imparted by the full-height glass panels.
